MAXXIS tires Assegai 29 x 2.50 WT 3C MaxxGrip TR EXO+
The Assegai is the ultimate downhill tire co-developed by former downhill world champion Greg Minnaar.
He has incorporated all his many years of experience in racing there. The basic idea behind it was to get the best out of already known Maxxis profiles. The well-running cleats from the Minion DHF and Minion DHR II were implemented in the middle of the tread. This gives excellent rolling on hard surfaces, but also grip on wet roots and stones. Slightly reshaped side knobs on the HighRoller take care of fast corners. With these you have a clearly defined limit and always enough reserves. Finally, the shorty adds its profile height and provides sufficient traction even on deep forest floors. With this intelligent mix you can really let it rip.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the profile layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and get a too square shape on wide rims and thus a less than optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
tube tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a real UST tubeless tube . As a result, tube installation is successful for all rims with standard dimensions the first time you pump it up and with little liquid. "Normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless installation and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been shown to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months.
EXO+ Protection
The improved EXO+ carcass is based on a robust 60TPI carcass, which is covered with abrasion-resistant rubber. In addition, the tire flanks have a reinforced and rubberized EXO puncture protection layer, while a short butyl insert is used above the tire bead. Tires with EXO+ Protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing and are ideal for the higher torque and weight that e-MTBs experience.
3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill compound, which many of the best downhillers have trusted for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best damping properties for incomparable traction on downhills thanks to three different rubber compounds. The base layer ensures low rolling resistance and stability of the tread lugs. The compound in the center of the tread provides the best grip on any surface, while the extremely dampened compound on the shoulder lugs provides the best possible cornering grip.
