The evolution of Sram's X01 group is nicknamed Eagle. Looking at the details of the group, this name makes a lot of sense. While you often had to make compromises with the 11-speed cassette with 10-42 teeth gradation of the XX1 cassette and either the fastest or the slowest gear was missing, you are with the 12-speed X01 Eagle cassette with its huge gradation of 10-50 teeth free as an eagle in every terrain. With the X01 Eagle, Sram manages to combine the advantages of 2-speed and 1-speed drives: A translation range of 500%, which is on the level of 2-speed groups, in connection with the easier to handle and lighter 1-speed Drive.
The PC 1290 12-speed chain plays a major role in the ease and quiet running of the new X01 Eagle 12-speed group. This is achieved by particularly strongly rounded outer plates and the consistent avoidance of sharp edges. HollowPin construction allows for smooth, precise shifting and weight savings without sacrificing strength. The pins are reinforced with a chrome coating. A nickel coating offers a high level of protection against corrosion and reduces the friction of the chain. The revised PowerLock chain lock has a longer service life and is even easier to use.
